Crafted for the nation's highest offices, this oval tray represents a distinguished lineage of diplomatic design. Mottahedeh created this collection specifically for State Department reception rooms and the White House, with pieces now gracing embassies worldwide. Drawing inspiration from Chinese export porcelain of 1810, the design features one of the earliest ceramic renderings of the American Eagle—a rare historical motif that bridges Eastern craftsmanship with American heritage and ceremonial tradition.

Highlights of the ceramics collection at Winterthur include nearly 5,000 Chinese export porcelain objects, many of them produced for the American market, as well as special-order wares once owned by famous historical figures.  An astonishingly wide array of American market and other table-, tea-, and ornamental ware helps illustrate the broad range of shapes available to the general consumer.
